In 2011, nagkaroon na rin ng gap ang mag-amang sina Cesar Montano at Diego Loyzaga. According to reports then, Diego moved out of Cesar's house and moved in with his mother Teresa, after getting into some issues with his dad. Reportedly, one of this is that he was asking for his own car and his own condo unit, but Cesar refused to give both.
Cesar reportedly is not at all supportive of his son entering showbiz and was surprised when the then 16-year-old Diego Loyzaga signed a contract with ABS-CBN without Cesar’s knowledge and it was Teresa who negotiated with the Kapamilya network.
Cesar's friends came to his rescue then and were the one who talked to the media to air Cesar's side. They said:
“Cesar shouldered Diego’s tuition fee at OB Montessori. He just wanted him to finish high school and eventually get a college degree. He was shocked when he learned that Diego signed a contract without him knowing it.”
“Yung mga anak nga nila ni Sunshine (Cruz) may mga offers din na mag-showbiz but Cesar turned down the offers. Okey lang daw ang commercials. Ayaw niyang ma-distract ang mga bata sa pag-aaral nila. That’s what he wants Diego to do, pero si Teresa raw ang nakipag-usap kaya wala na siyang magawa.”
“Cesar can provide the car and condo for his son, but he is not of age to drive his own car or even live by himself."
“Cesar wants Diego to live with him para mabantayan niya”. “He is only 16 and it is not good for him to live by his own. It’s better that Diego stays with Teresa para may tumitingin sa kanya. Iba na raw kasi ang kabataan ngayon. Mabuti na ‘yung may guardian.
“Cesar is also not keen on giving Diego a car. Masyado pa raw bata si Diego to drive. Cesar wants his children to be safe and giving them their own car is not the right thing to do.” Cesar allegedly said: "I just want the best for my son (Diego Loyzaga)!"
