Charo Santos Concio will retire as ABS-CBN President and CEO next week. Charo Santos-Concio turns 60 years old on October 27, the mandatory retirement age for any ABS-CBN President and CEO.
Charo Santos Concio became ABS-CBN's first female president and ABS-CBN's fifth president over-all, when ABS-CBN Chairman and COO Gabby Lopez appointed her in February 2008.
As president of ABS-CBN, all subsidiaries and divisions of the giant network reports to her. This includes Studio 23, ANC, Cinema One, ABS-CBN Publishing, Interactive, the PR Group, among others.
Her predecessors as ABS-CBN President were Eugenio "Geny" Lopez Jr., Freddie Garcia, Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez III, and Cito Alejandro.
Charo Santos-Concio will continue working for ABS-CBN though as a consultant and as host of the long running drama anthology, "Maalaala Mo Kaya", which has been on-air for 24 years now.
She also recently published a book, "Charo and I", which was launched at the recent Star Magic Ball.
She will also serve as chairman of the 43rd International Emmy Awards which will be held on November 23 in New York City.
