In his first nomination for expulsion from the wildly popular Pinoy Dream Academy, Kristoff Abrenica got more than 50% of the text votes, last week, he again was saved with 43% of the vote, despite some formidable competition from Yeng Constantino who holds the no.1 OPM single in the Philippines right now, "Hawak Kamay"..in fact, she was nowhere near at 33%.
The beautiful Nikki Gil, even consoled Kristoff when he was nominated again for the third time this week, she said, " Okay lang yun, marami namang may crush sayo"...
Contrary to what the critics say (including the judges), he gets the bulk of text votes from around the world because Kristoff brought some uniqueness into the show. He after all, is the only one who sings with the R&B flavor very popular music these days with teens. Plus the boy-next-door look, the public simply embraced him.
But, Kristoff Abrenica is also a hardworking young man, back in Canada, Kristoff works as a grocery clerk. And he does most of the household chores in the academy too. For the Pinoy Dream Academy audition, Kristoff had to save a lot of money in order to fly him and his only sister to San Francisco, California where the auditions were held. He was pleasantly surprised when he found out that he made it to the next round of auditions. He wants to make it big to make his family, most especially his sister proud.
