Hi! My name is Boy and I'm a shopaholic! Yes, you heard it right, I am a shopaholic. Say what? I am declaring I am a shopaholic. And here is my confession.
Since my elementary days, even though money is scarce, i still find time to either ask for money from my parents or from my relatives, and if those aren't simply enough, i would exert effort in the art of being enterprising. I would make buko juice ice candy to sell or rent my favorite "komiks," all that to satisfy my lust for being a shopaholic. Yes, dearie, you heard it right again, i started early.
Those childhood shopaholic days were aimed for those Disney character shirts or that coveted latest Star Wars toys more specifically the shining sabre every kid fancied.
In high school, the shopaholic me became trendy although this was the age of being in an awkward stage. This was the 80's dahlings. Everyone spoke Madonna and a little bit of Cyndi Lauper. Baggy pants and shirts were all the rage. The shopaholic in me simply snapped them all. Giordano was the it brand, LOL.
Then college came, and all hell breaks loose. I would scour the Ali Mall for those ukays, this was the place for such things then. Greenhills pales in comparison since it was the "in" place then, and I am glad it is slowly regaining its old regalia. Fashion victim personified is me back in college.
Those times were also the advent of the phenomena called malling. And with malling came addiction to shopping at its worst. I would maxed out on my parent-issued credit card and pretend it never happened. But the perks were exhilarating! People would write in the yearbook and in 'slumbooks' that i am one of the better dressed in school!
To this day, I am still and will be a shopaholic. But I simply does not snap up whatever item is on sale from a famous designer. I became a chooser but none the less wiser when it comes to shopping finds!
That is my shopaholic confession. Want to watch yours? Catch "Confessions Of a Shopaholic" in Cinemas on February 18, 2009! It could mirror or unravel your shopaholic self.
