Top 5 Cruise Movies Of All Time

So there have been a Top Ten or Top Five Lists of everything, from Top 5 Vampire Movies, Top 5 Chick Flicks or Top 5 Comedy Movies of all time, so why not a Top 5 Cruise Movies of all time. Cruise movies are popular or critically-acclaimed movies that feature cruises or ocean liners as part of the movie theme. On television, The Love Boat is a perfect example, so does the more current, Disney's The Suite Life With Zack And Cody. But we're talking movies here, and if you love cruises, this is the next best thing, watch movies with cruises themes. And the number 1 in the list of the Top Five Cruise or Boat Movies of all-time is:

1. Titanic - of course. It is still the highest-grossing movie of all-time too with well over a billion dollars US in sales. It made Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet an international household names too. Since its showing in 1997, none have rivaled its popularity with the movie-going public. If you are bothered with what happened in the movie's ending, pls. take note it happened in 1917. Modern cruise ships are well-prepared and well-equipped for any eventualities now.
Titanic

2. Diamonds are Forever - A James Bond classic movie that tackles the elegant life. The entire movie did not really happen in a cruise ship, but a key scene of Diamonds are Forever takes place on a cruise ship.

3. Ship of Fools - this one stars Gone With The Wind's Vivienne Leigh and it was to be Vivien Leigh's last film. Ship of Fools directed by Stanley Kramer, is a 1965 film which tells the overlapping stories of several passengers aboard an ocean liner during the 1930s.
Ship of Fools

4. Show Boat - this is a 1951 lavish style film based on the musical of the same title by Oscar Hammerstein II. It is one of MGM's most popular movie-musicals. It stars legendary Hollywood star Ava Gardner.
Show Boat

5. Pirates of the Caribbean - this franchise is one of the most successful in movie history. It may not be an actual cruise ship in the true meaning of the word but it actually does that exactly. The characters go on a journey to exciting destinations.

Maja Salvador Discovers Coco Martin Secrets

Maja Salvador
Maja Salvador said she discovers more everyday, many of Coco Martin's persona behind the camera. “Naku, ang dami ko kayang natuklasan tungkol kay Coco. Mukhang tahimik lang iyan pero may itinatagong kakulitan talaga. Pag hindi kami nakasalang, madalas kaming magkuwentuhan... nakakatuwa,” ("I have discovered so much about Coco Martin. He looks like a serious guy but he has a humorous side. We are in the getting to know stage. I'm so happy") Maja said. Coco Martin and Maja Salvador are the lead stars of the ABS-CBN afternoon soap "Nagsimula sa Puso" shown right after Wowowee. Coco Martin does not really keep secrets. His life is an open book. Before being a star in the Kapamilya Network, he starred in several indie movies where his private parts were exposed for the world to see. He also has children with former bold star Katherine Luna.

StarStruck V Final 14 Artista Aspirants

The first reality-based artista search of GMA Network, StarStruck V, hosted by Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana and Raymond Gutierrez, had chosen the 14 Starstruck Finalists. The 14 Starstruck hopefuls - chosen from among the Top 28 - 20 aspirants from different parts of the Philippines and 8 hopefuls from around the World.

The seven male aspirants from the Final 14 are: Ian Batherson, 20 (Mandaluyong City); Rocco Nacino, 22 (Pasig City); Enzo Pineda, 19 (Quezon City); Piero Vergara, 16 (Cebu City); Steven Silva, 22 (Davao); Sef Cadayona, 20 (Las Piñas City); and Rye Burgos, (L.A., California, USA).

The 7 lady hopefuls are: Fianca Cruz, 18 (Pasig City); Diva Montalaba, 18 (Cebu City); Sarah Lahbati, 18 (Cavite); Princess Snell, 17 (Laguna); Rox Montealegre, 19 (Pasig City); Zyril Lim (Bahrain); and Nina Kodaka (Japan).

In last Saturday's Starstruck episode, two aspirants, Astrid Isidro of Marikina City and Adam Hussien of Pasig City, came in late for their make-up session with ace makeup artist Barbie Chan. Naturally so, when the Top 14 finalists were announced, they failed to make the cut. I particularly disliked Astrid Isidro's attitude. For a 17 year-old, her attitude and behavior is appalling. She even belittled and bullied another contestant.

The members of the StarStruck Council this year are Iza Calzado, Lolit Solis and Floy Quintos.

Lee MinHo and Sandara Park in TV Commercial

Sandara Park
Lee MinHo and Sandara Park will star together in a Cass Beer commercial. Lee MinHo is of course the star of the hit TV show, "Boys Over Flowers" while Sandara Park is a member of the newest KPop sensation, "2NE1". The two have started shooting the commercial. In choosing 2NE1 member Sandara Park, Cass Beer reps say that Sandara Park is the "Philippines BoA," referring to the Asian pop superstar Boa. “Sandara Park, who debuted as ‘Philippines’ BoA’ will transformed into a femme fatale, shedding her pure image with her long hair in this CF. She will wear sexy smokey eye makeup, and her hair will be pulled back, and wear skinny jeans – she will show the ‘toxic’ youthful image for Cass beer.”

Aljur Abrenica Daw

Aljur Abrenica Look-alike Daw is this person. This was in Aljur Abrenica's Facebook account. From the looks of it, this photo and the guy in it posed and hopes to look like Aljur Abrenica. Of course to very funny result. In the first place, Aljur Abrenica is a very attractive actor. He is so cute, so someone trying to look like him pales in comparison. Note: The photo has been removed upon request. The photo above is the real Aljur Abrenica courtesy of Cosmo Philippines.

Mariah Carey Lose Famed Voice

Mariah Carey definitely lost her famed high octave voice. In the Michael Jackson Memorial Service in Staples Center, Mariah Carey (and Trey Lorenz) evidently sang badly and was even out of tune in some verses. Compare that to when she blew us away with her (and Trey Lorenz) version of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" in her MTV Unplugged Album, which was her singing live around 1991 for the then popular MTV show, MTV Unplugged. Oh well, it could be because Mariah Carey is now 40 years old. Some say though that age does not matter in singing, unless you really really get old, as evidenced by Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie, both still very good. Some kibitzers are speculating that Mariah Carey may have lost her famed voice due to, namely, a boob job, a nose job, and God knows what other cosmetic surgery enhancement she went through.

John Lloyd Cruz Chumaka After Breakup with Liz Uy

John Lloyd Cruz
Is he really? As in, did John Lloyd Cruz lose his matinee idol looks after his breakup with Preview Magazine's Fashion Editor Liz Uy? One blog is so direct about it, Chuvaness.com, it came with the before and after photos and a SNN interview video as evidence. Actually, I THINK what Chuvaness is saying is that John Lloyd Cruz did not only lose some of his matinee idol looks but his sense of style as well. In short, chumaka at naging baduy "ulit" daw si John Lloyd Cruz. Oh well. Could be true, after all she knows what she's talking about, Ms. Cecille Zamora-Van Straten, the woman behind Chuvaness.com, was a fashion designer and has been recently voted as Samsung's Ultra Style Icon.

Pinky Webb in Rouge

ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs' Pinky Webb is on the cover of the June 2009 issue of Rogue Magazine. Pinky Webb is also fiancee to Optical Media Board Chairman and game show host Edu Manzano. They still have not set a date for their wedding though after announcing their engagement. Rouge choose Pinky Webb because Rogue loves confident, passionate, and driven women. And they think Pinky Webb epitomizes them.

Marian Rivera and Will Devaugnh in JAG Black Magic Fashion Show

Celebrity endorsers Marian Rivera and Will Devaugnh at the JAG Black Magic Fshow recently. Marian Rivera exuded sexiness despite not showing any skin. She is now preparing for Darna and her personal gym trainer is none other than her boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes. Meanwhile,I am not feeling the erstwhile sexy celeb Will Devaugnh in this show. There seems to be something going on with him and his body. His six pack abs are gone. He looks haggard as well. Is Will Devaughn on with something?

Regine Velasquez Sleep through 39th Birthday

Regine Velasquez slept through her 39th Birthday. Is this a sign of old age? LOL. Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez said she spent her entire birthday last April 22 in Joy Ortega's mansion resort in La Union. Regine Velasquez was so relaxed that she fell asleep the entire day and never got to celebrate her 39th birthday (kibitzers say she is already more than 40). Despite it, partner Ogie Alcasid managed to gave her an expensive Chanel bag.

Regine Velasquez is busy promoting her new TV show, a Pinoy Pop Superstar spinoff called "Are You The Next Big Star?". Her co-host for the show is Keempee de Leon. Are You The Next Big Star? will premiere this Saturday, May 16, on GMA 7.

Jennylyn Mercado Bipolar Disorder

Does Jennylyn Mercado have Bipolar Disorder? This is a psychiatric disease that is believed to afflict Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus (?) among the more notable stars. Although the company that she keeps if she really has Bipolar Disorder seems stellar given that Hollywood stars are afflicted mostly, Jennylyn Mercado should not take it as a compliment. Bipolar Disorder is debilitating and disruptive of normal human behaviour. The reason I asked if Jennylyn Mercado has Bipolar Disorder is because of her erratic behavior lately, smacking on being unprofessional by not showing on two scheduled press conferences and TV appearances which would promote her coffee table book and her concert entitled "I Am Woman" which is slated to be held on May 14 at the Music Museum. Her live guesting for Startalk was also cancelled so does her supposed Birthday Presentation in "SOP" by her no-show.

A tipster reported that Jennylyn Mercado and boyfriend Andrei Felix (Studio 23 host) has been seen going to a Sunday Mass last May 10 in a Quezon City church.

Charice in Alvin and The Chipmunks 2

Charice is reportedly going to be part of 20th Century Fox’s "Alvin and The Chipmunks 2." It will be Charice's first movie and a Hollywood big budgeted movie at that. Alvin and The Chipmunks 2 is a live action-animation movie with the first Alvin and The Chipmunks film featuring Jason Lee, David Cross, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney.

Charice will lend her voice to one of the “chipettes," or female chipmunks who can communicate with human beings, that will be introduced in "Alvin and The Chipmunks 2." It is also possible that Charice might portray the first chipmunk singer -- Charlene The Chipette.

With all this, Charice is still mum about her first Hollywood movie. Only saying that she will be shooting a film in which “’Yong story niya umiikot sa tatlong animated characters.” And yes, as the photo above says, Charice's international single, a cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" is now available for download in iTunes.

Rich Asuncion is new Janina San Miguel

This was soo last week but nevertheless this still needs to be adressed, lol. In the Bb. Pilipinas Pageant last week, GMA 7 television personality Rich Asuncion was one of the most notable candidate and was even a shoo-in for one of the three crowns at stake, until, unfortunately the question and answer portion:

Lady judge: What is your lucky number and what is its significance to you?

Candidate Number 3, Richelle Angalot (Rich Asuncion): "Well, my fir.. my lucky number is 11.. because.. its.. its a memorable time of me in the month of el.. in the month of 11, ah because i had my first boyfriend on the 11th of the month and i first fall in love.. and.. I understood.. love and I knew what love is and Im really happy that I've experienced it because it makes me a better person. Thats all.. thank you!"

But unlike Janina San Miguel who won as Philippine representative to the 2008 Miss World pageant, Richelle Angalot a.k.a. Rich Asuncion only managed to snag 1st Runner Up and not any of the three prestigious beauty title. let's all relive what Janina San Miguel said at last year's pageant:

Paolo Bediones: Janina, how are you?
Janina San Miguel: I'm fine.
Paolo Bediones: Alright, so you won two of the major awards - Best in Long Gown, Best in Swimsuit, do you feel any pressure right now?
Janina San Miguel: No, I don't feel any pressure right now.
Paolo Bediones: Confident! Alright! Please choose a name of the judge.
Paolo Bediones: We have Miss Vivienne Tan.
Vivienne Tan: Good Evening.
Janina San Miguel: Good Evening.
Vivienne Tan: The question is, what role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilipinas?
Janina San Miguel: Well, my family's role for me is so important b'coz there was the wa- they're, they was the one who's... very... Hahahaha... Oh I'm so sorry, Ahhmm... My pamily... My family... Oh my god... I'm...
(Paolo Bediones: Pwede ka magtagalog,ok lang) Ok, I'm so sorry... I... I told you that I'm so confident... Eto, Ahhmm, Wait... Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b'coz I'm only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the taf 10. Hmmm, so... but I said dot my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

Latest Kris Aquino News

Kris Aquino
Here is the latest Kris Aquino news. Kris Aquino once again graces the cover of Preview Magazine. Kris Aquino was previously featured on November 2007. Kris Aquino is also firmly in-place to be on The Buzz indefinitely, after all she was its original host, as suspended host Cristy Fermin is not mulled to be returned to the show as host anytime soon.

Recently, Kris Aquino also delved into worthwhile causes, among them an encouragement to grade school kids to let them develop a reading habit. Kris Aquino, the big star that she is, still took time to participate in the Inquirer Read-Along sessions which seeks to inspire hundreds of children to develop good reading habits. Btw, reading is one of Kris Aquino's favorite pastime. Kris makes it a point to read a new book each week despite her busy schedule.

For 2009, we will still see Kris Aquino host such top-rating ABS-CBN shows: “Boy and Kris,” “The Buzz” and “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”
